First, coaching is a conversation, much like a therapist. And, much like a therapist, a coach listens deeply to your teen. The difference is that your teen will leave each session with a small goal and a plan that is tailored to them. Small goals are meant to build on each other toward a larger goal. For example, getting a job involves many smaller steps that a teen may have trouble figuring out and they feel overwhelmed, ending up doing nothing.
So, each biweekly meeting has a purpose. It is not a venting session or a chat, but it is confidential.
I recommend that we meet for 30 minutes every two weeks, but some people prefer a different time interval. If you are local, we can meet in person. Otherwise, it can be telephonic or Zoom, your choice.
Yes, absolutely! I have helped hundreds of adults reach their health goals in areas such as weight loss, healthy eating habits, stress management and self care, better sleep, and getting more movement in their day.
Some insurance companies recognize the value of health coaching, but most do not. However, I do accept HSA/FSA funds. You would simply need a letter of medical necessity from your doctor or I could provide you with one for your doctor to fill out. I also offer a sliding scale for those who do not have an HSA. Don’t worry! We can find a way.
While I can coach you or your teen on mental well-being (stress, mild depression, situational anxiety, relational issues), I am not a therapist. I do not have the extensive training that a therapist has in treating psychological disorders and healing from past traumas. I can help people move forward, but I cannot help them resolve their past. That being said, the people I have worked with sometimes have a coach and a therapist. And, some clients have said that they found their coach more helpful than their therapist. It depends on what you are trying to accomplish in your life. If you have not healed from past wounds and they are keeping you stuck, you need a therapist.
I am not a nutritionist and so I cannot prescribe any specific supplements. However, I do offer a practitioner’s dispensary so that you can order high quality, professional grade supplements that have been recommended to you by a doctor or nutritionist. I can also provide you with educational materials and research so you can make an informed decision about supplements.
