Offering natural learning and natural living solutions for challenging kids and their families.
And all from a Christian perspective.
Natural learning might be the solution.
You’ve tried all the different curriculum options out there and your wiggly, out-of-the-box kid just won’t cooperate. Every time you get up to go to the bathroom, she disappears. Your son won’t squeeze out even one sentence for the answer sheets. You plead. You bribe. You take away devices. Nothing. Every day feels likes a battle. Failure looms in your mind because you keep switching curriculum and never finish any of them. What will you show the state? You ask yourself almost daily, “Is this kid even learning anything? Maybe he would be better off (back) in school.”
Meanwhile, she is obsessed with princesses. Princesses, princesses, princesses everything. And your son, well, all he wants to do is Minecraft.
Been there, done that!
Perhaps a natural learning approach is for you. Challenging children learn best in context, through relevant experiences. Let me show you how.
Natural living offers relief.
From the time he was little, rashes of some sort covered his body. He suffered from bouts of mysterious aches and sudden tantrums. Some days, he’s sweet as pie and the next, he thrashes around uncontrollably. He complains his stomach hurts and can’t fall asleep at bedtime. You suspect some sort of allergy, but the doctors won’t listen to you. They run all these tests and announce that there is nothing wrong with him. You know better.
Your daughter bites people and becomes violent whenever you visit museums. She only eats cheese and no matter what you try, she won’t eat any other food. She stares off into space and struggles to pay attention. You bring your concerns to your family doctor and what he says unsettles you. You’re concerned about side effects and addiction.
Julie Naturally educates you on how to promote whole body wellness.
I do not treat, cure, diagnose, or prescribe. Only doctors do that.
Please do NOT contact me about what herbs treat what conditions. I am an herbalist, not a doctor, and natural approaches are not a 1-1 trade. For example, there are no herbs that treat ADHD. There are herbs that promote a healthy nervous system. However, we do educate you on how to help your body heal itself.
Who is Julie Naturally?
Veteran Homeschooling Mom of 4
First of all, I love Jesus and I lead worship for the women’s ministry at my local church. But, my job is a 16+-year veteran homeschooling mom of four children, all of whom have special needs. Two of them have ADHD, one has Asperger’s, one is gifted with Aspie traits and sensory/regulation issues. One has dyslexia and one has anxiety disorder. All of my children have food allergies. I have fibromyalgia, food allergies, and multiple chemical sensities (MCS). All of these issues are managed without medication.
Over the years, I have served on my support group’s board and for five years, founded and led a new support group for relaxed homeschoolers. Currently, I teach middle school science workshops for a homeschool co-op. My oldest two have graduated from my homeschool and moved on to other pursuits, so on my blog, I discuss what that looks like from time to time as well. My parenting journey has included natural childbirth, breastfeeding, and attachment parenting. Occasionally, I write about those topics, especially since I recently became a grandma and am passing wisdom down to my daughter.
Experienced, Trained Professional
I am also a trained Master Herbalist in western herbal practice and am completing formal training in aromatherapy. I have managed my family’s health, food and environmental allergies, and my own chronic illness for more than twenty years using a natural and integrative approach. I love fermenting food, urban gardening, finding ways to practice better stewardship, and all things that align with God’s gifts to us through nature. I especially delight in how He reveals Himself daily through every brilliant sunrise, every blooming rose, every bustling sparrow.
My books, downloads, courses, weekly e-mails, and other offerings all center on natural learning; natural home, health, and hygiene; and authentically and passionately pursuing Jesus as we are keepers and managers of our homes.
